Today’s Prompt

Write a quatern exploring the concepts Sword, Money, and Still Life.
Quaterns aren't the easiest form to write, but they're not the hardest, either. If anything, what makes them tricky is their deceptive concision: Each line is only 8 syllables, and each stanza has the same refrain, so you have (carry the one... double check...) 128 syllables, 32 of them repeated, to get a whole poem across.
But you can do it! And if the form doesn't interest you, or if you want to start slow, write in free verse and go from there.
Paintings and prompts:
Sword
What gives you your strength?
Money
What is the root of your evil?
Still Life
Write about the present as though it were frozen in time.
